Cop’s wife murdered
BIRATNAGAR: An unidentified gang shot dead Basanti Sah, 32, a resident of Biratnagar Sub-Metropolis-18, on Saturday night. Manoj Sah — husband of the victim — is a police constable who is now stationed at area police office Mirchaiya, Siraha, police stated. Personal enmity could be the reason behind the murder, the police suspected. — HNS
Two houses gutted
DHADING: Two houses of Damadong Tamang reduced to ashes in Ri VDC-1 of Dhading on Sunday morning. Property worth a million rupees was damaged in the fire. Following the disaster, the seven members of the family has been taking shelter at a neighbour’s house, according to locals. — HNS
Diarrhoeal death
PARASI: Jitendra Rajbhar, 50, resident of Guthi Prasauni-3 in Nawalparasi district died of diarrhoea on Saturday night, the police said. According to the District Public Health Office (DPHO), three others have already lost their lives to the diarrhoea within a month-long period. The woes of the patients have been compounded as there are no health workers in the villages. Subsequently, many of them are forced to go to India for treatment. — HNS
Short circuit kills one
PARASI: Jivan Chaudhari, a resident of Jahada VDC-8, was electrocuted while repairing an electricity pole in Devgawa VDC of Nawalparasi on Saturday. According to police, four others, who were seriously injured in the incident, are undergoing treatment at the Lumbini Zonal Hospital. — HNS
