Dacoits strike house

RAUTAHAT: A gang of dacoits looted property worth Rs 1.5 lakh from the house of Jagat Shah Sonar in Jathara Village Development Committee Ward No 6 of Rautahat district on Wednesday, the police said. The Rautahat District Police Office said the dacoits robbed gold, silver and cash amounting to Rs 1.5 lakh from the house and they fled when a team of police reached the site. — HNS

Five vandals held

ILAM: Police on Thursday arrested five armed persons from Banjho VDC of Ilam district on the charge of terrorising devotees at a religious site in Banjho. Those arrested are: Bal Bahadur Phiyak, Bir Bahadur Chemjong, Raki Tumwapo, Karna Chemjong and Kuber Man Idhingo. Homemade pistols were found in their possession, police said, adding that the five were arrested on the basis of a a complaint lodged by Kirant Cholung-Ansimangena Sewa Samiti. Accusing the five youths of beating them and vandalising their houses, locals of Banjho and Ivang VDCs had also moved the Ilam District Administration Office. — HNS
