Injured airlifted

NEPALGUNJ: Ten persons including eight policemen, who were injured in a jeep accident in Jumla on Monday, were airlifted to Nepalgunj on Tuesday. Of them, two are undergoing treatment in Bheri Zonal Hospital and the rest in Teaching Hospital, police said. They were injured when a jeep (Ve 1 Cha 660) heading to Kalikot from Jumla met with an accident at Tatopani area along the Karnali highway’s on Monday afternoon. Of the injured, eight are policemen. — HNS

Vandalism flayed

RAMECHHAP: Nepal Physician’s Organisation (NPO), Ramechhap, condemned the Monday’s vandalism in the Dhulikhel Hospital by relatives of a patient who died while undergoing treatment in the hospital on Sunday. A release signed by Dr Suman Karmacharya of the NPO sought action against the guilty and security for the physicians. — HNS

Lack of docs hits locals

GAIGHAT: Lack of enough quota of health workers in Primary Health Centre in Katari of Udaypur has left many patients stranded in the hospital premises waiting for their turn to get treatment. The centre has a quota for eight health workers, including one doctor, while over 100 patients visit it every day. — HNS

Sadhu kills sadhvi

JHAPA: A saint Jivan Timsina, who has been living in a Kotihom at Surunga village development committee-4 of Jhapa district, beat a sadhvi to death on Tuesday. Area Police Office Birtamod said Timsina, who claimed that he is 107 years old, hit 85-year-old Chandra Maya BK by a wooden peace after she stole salt and oil from his kitchen. BK died on the spot, police said. — HNS

Four women rescued

JHAPA: Maiti Nepal rescued four women, who were being trafficked to India from Kakarvitta in Jhapa district, on Monday. “Luring them of lucrative jobs, Bhim Kumari BK was trafficking the women to India and we rescued them,” said Govinda Ghimire, eastern regional coordinator of Maiti Nepal. The rescued women are Sita Majhi (20) of Ghailaduba village development committee-7, Reeta Baniya (21), Santoshi Chapagain (30) and Bhairabi Rajbanshi (20) of Ward No 8 of Jalthal VDC-8. Ghimire added that the women were handed over to their guardians on Tuesday. — HNS

Escapee arrested

GAIGHAT: Police arrested detainee Anil Bishwokarma on Tuesday, five hours after he fled the police custody. He was arrested from a church near Katari bazaar. BK, a resident of Katari village development committee-4, was arrested on Sunday on the charge of threatening a businessman of life Bijaya Karki. — HNS
