Lightning kills one

RAJBIRAJ: Lightning killed sixty-five-year-old Musharu Miya of Deuribharuwa-5 in Saptari district on Friday. Miya died when lightning struck him at his house on Friday. In another incident, an armed gang of around 12 persons abducted Satrugna Pandit, a resident of Deuribharuwa village development committee-6 in the district on Friday, the Saptari District Administration office said. — HNS

Dog bites 13

TANAHUN: A rabid dog belonging to Darshan Gurung of Kamin-1, Tanahun district, bit 13 persons in Tanahun district on Wednesday and Thursday, a local, Padam Kumari Shrestha, said. Mesh Bahadur Bishwokarma, Rubin Gurung, Kanchhi Gurung and Nirmala Shrestha were among those bitten by the dog. All 13 injured are undergoing treatment at the Damauli Hospital, villagers said, adding that the dog had also been killed. — HNS

‘Rapist’ in custody

RUPANDEHI: The Rupandehi district court on Thursday sent an Indian national Govinda Chaudhary in police custody in connection with the rape of a nine-year-old girl. The district court told the administration to jail Chaudhary till the investigation into the case is complete. Rickshaw-puller Chaudhari of Champaran, India, had allegedly raped a nine-year-old girl of Butwal municipality Ward No12 recently, sub-inspector Rom Bahadur Oli said. — HNS
