Decaying body found

BIRGUNJ: A decaying body of a youth was found at Gahawatole at Birgunj on Monday morning. Police inspector at the Parsa district police office Kiran Jung Thapa said the body of a youth of around 26 was found in a sewage near the Durga Cinema Hall. He said the youth might have been killed three to four days ago. The body has been sent to the Narayani sub-regional hospital for post-mortem. — HNS

Free check-up camp

DHADING: A total of 420 patients underwent health check-up at a free health camp in Jogimara village development committee (VDC)-9 of Dhading district on Sunday. Dr Raja Ram Karki, Dr Ram Kumar Adhikari, Dr Rekha Thapaliya attended to the patients at the camp organised by the Humane Management Educational Society Nepal. Jogimara sub health post, community services centre Jogimara, Amar Jyoti Youth Club Jogimara, Kishori Samuha Jogimara and the Focus Nepal Dhading also helped conduct the camp. — HNS

48,000 get Vit A doses

DHADING: A total of 48,808 children were administered with vitamin ‘A’ capsules in Dhading district during this year’s National Vitamin ‘A’ Programme. According to resource person at the district health office Bishnu Rijal, children aged between six months to five years in all 50 VDCs in the district were administered with the capsules. Similarly, 43,039 children aged one to five years were also given anti-worm medicine, Rijal said. At least 500 volunteers were mobilized for the campaign. — HNS

Five houses robbed

LAMJUNG: Property worth Rs 5 lakh was robber from five houses at Pyubhanjyang of Gauda-5 of Lamjunj district on Sunday night. A group of five persons made away with 10 tolas of gold, Rs 60,000 cash and other goods from the houses of Santamaya Gurung, Khusiram Gurung, Hitaman Gurung, Sita Gurung, Trikuli Gurung and Bhim Gurung, the Gauda Police Post said, adding that a manhunt for the robbers is on. — HNS

2 killed in mishap

ILAM: Two persons were killed in a truck mishap at Godak of Ilam on the Mechi Highway on Sunday night. Truck conductor Man Bahadur Tamang of Dhading and Pawan Sharma died on the spot when the truck overturned and plunged 200 metres down the road, police said. Critically injured truck driver Rajan Aryal is undergoing treatment in Dharan. — HNS

VDC secy freed

SIRAHA: Forty-nine-year-old Jivan Dhital, secretary of Chandralalpur VDC, who was abducted by cadres of the Unified Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha from Asanpur Gol Bazaar on October 26 on the charge of misappropriating funds, was released on Sunday. Dhital, who hails from Gol bazaar, was released without unconditionally, said Abhishek, former bureau in-charge of the Morcha. — HNS
