KATHMANDU: Vitamin A capsules and deworming tablets will be administered to an estimated 3.1 million children across the country on Thursday and Friday. While Vitamin A capsules will be administered to children between six months and five years of age, the deworming tablets would be given to children between one year and five years of age. — RSS

Migrants’ memo

NEW DELHI: The Mulprabah Akhil Bharat Ekta Samaj, an organisation of Nepali migrants, on Wednesday sent a memorandum to PM Koirala through the Nepali Embassy here, demanding that the government scrap the December 2, 2006 decision of the parliament not to grant them the right to vote from abroad in the constituent assembly polls. It included signatures of some 61,500 Nepalis living in different parts of India. — HNS

Highway closed

Tanahun: The 29-km Byas highway that links Damauli of Tanahun with Bhorletar of Lamjung was closed for an indefinite period on Wednesday. Hundreds of passengers from Tanahun, Lumjung and Kaski have been affected due to the transport strike. The Byas Highway Consumers’ Struggle Committee has prevented vehicles from plying on the highway since yesterday, demanding reduction in transport fares. — HNS

Buses ransacked

RAUTAHAT: Irate locals, on a warpath since a week demanding an area-level government office in Chandranigahapur VDC, smashed the windscreens of two passenger buses on Wednesday. The locals, who were staging a two-hour chakkajam on the Chandranigahpur section of Mahendra Highway, vandalised them. — HNS
