Strike to continue

BARA: Workers of the Surya Nepal Private Limited, Simra, have decided to extend their relay hunger strike till Tuesday. “The strike will go on till Tuesday. We will launch another phase of protest programmes if our demands are not met by then,” said Dipak KC, chairman of the workers’ union. — HNS

Maoists seize godown

Phidim: The Maoists captured six ropanis of land along with the building and godown belonging to Agriculture Inputs Company at Phidim-4 of Panchthar on Friday. The Maoists captured the building and godown to establish a camp for their peoples’ army. The building belonging to AIC had been leased out after the office shifted to Ilam on September 17. The Maoists have set up tents on building premises. Maoist district in-charge Raman said the AIC building and land was captured because it was quite appropriate for Maoist peoples’ militia to stay until the ongoing peace talks reached decisive turn. — HNS
