Cantonment plan :
Kathmandum: The government is mulling over establishing three to five cantonments to keep Maoist rebels once the UN begins the arms management process here, it has been learnt. They could be established in mutually agreeable locations in Sindhuli, Sindhupalchowk, Palpa and Surkhet though the final decision on the matter will be taken once Ian Martin starts conferring on the issue after his arrival here on Monday. Once kept in cantonments, the rebel fighters will be provided for by agencies under UN coordination. — HNS
Fiat on transfer order :
SIRAHA: The Siraha District Education Committee (DEC) has directed District Education Officer (DEO) Ram Niwas Thakur to postpone the transfer of over 25 teachers, said Shashi Shankar Shrestha, CDO and chairman of the DEC. The then District Education Officer Dilli Ram Rimal had issued transfer orders to the teachers before his transfer in mid-July. — HNS
Project on cards :
KATHMANDU: A 100-MW hydropower plant will be constructed between the borders of Mustang and Myadgi, said Jagat Bhushal, team leader of the hydropower project, at a press conference organised here on Saturday. The Kaligandaki Gorge Hydropower (KGH) is conducting a geological survey for the project. — HNS

Epidemic kills one :
Dhading: A 75-year-old woman died of dysentery recently, the Baireni Health Post said, adding 88 people had been suffering from dysentery, which has been spreading in Aapchaur for a week. There are 77 households in Aapchaur, but there are no toilets. Dysentery has spread in the village, where people go out in the open to address the nature’s call. Water gets polluted because of faeces and people take ill because they drink polluted water, said a health worker at the Baireni Health Post, Ramesh Aryal. — HNS
