KATHMANDU: Minister for Physical Planning and Works Gopal Man Shrestha said on Tuesday that the Melamchi water project should be given continuity. Rather than carrying out blasts for constructing access roads, stones should be crushed by machines and compensation should be paid to land owners, he said. — HNS
Pappu held again
KATHMANDU: Police on Tuesday rearrested Indian national Pappu Yadav, who was freed from the Central Jail after serving a three-year jail term, from outside jail premises. SP Dhak Bahadur Karki said Yadav was rearrested on the charge of role in human trafficking. He has been sent to the Morang District Police Office for furthering legal procedures. — HNS
‘Army Captain guilty’
KATHMANDU: The probe committee formed by the government to investigate into the case in which Nepal Army Captain Robin Bikram Rana, of Bhairabnath Battalion, and his team forced three police personnel away from police station and tortured them in the Battallion barrack, on Monday submitted the report to secretary at the defence ministry and recommended action against 14 army men including Major of the barrack. The committee headed by Kashinath Sharma, joint-secretary of the defence ministry, has recommended action not only against the Captain but also acting Major of the barrack and other army men. — HNS
