One person died while five others sustained injuries after the car they were travelling on fell below the road along the East-West Highway in Lalbandi Municipality-17 of Sarlahi district on Wednesday night.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as an Indian National Nabin Yadav (22) of Sitamadi district in India. He was the driver of the car. Similarly, Atul Kumar (27), Dibyans Yadav (19), Princeraj Rajput (28), Shaurav Yadav (22) all from the same village as the driver and Ajit Yadav (25) of Mujjafarpur in India.

The incident occurred when the car with Indian registration no BR 06 BM 1537 lost control and skidded off the road some 10 feet below near Kalingjor Bridge at 10: 00 pm last night.

Critically injured Nabin was rushed to Gadhimai Hospital in Lalbandi where he was pronounced dead upon arrival by the doctors, added, DSP Budhathoki.

Among the other injured, Atul is reported to be in critical condition and being treated at the same hospital.

After the preliminary investigation, the accident was caused by overspeeding, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Madhav Prasad Budhatokhi, Spokesperson at the District Police Office, Sarlahi.
