Kavre, March 28:

Minister for Peace and Reconstruction and Nepali Congress (NC) leader Ram Chandra Poudel said today that only his party can lead the country and that other parties and the international community have trusted it.

Speaking at a NC election campaign in constituency no. 1 of Kavre district, Poudel said CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist don’t trust each other, but both trust NC and, therefore, have let the NC lead the present government.

“NC has led the country for the past 60 years and it will do so now also,” said Poudel, adding he was confident NC would draft the new constitution.

He claimed that the NC had discovered a way out of the political crisis and led the country through difficult times to bring it to this stage.

He also maintained that the slogan of a republican state order belonged to the NC alone. Poudel said: “NC has led all movements in the country and it will lead the country in the new generation as well.”

“NC brought the armed conflict in the country to an end and also forced the armed political parties to come to table for peaceful negotiation and reconciliation and to the political mainstream,” he said.

“Dialogue is going on with some other disgruntled groups as well and it will reach a successful

conclusion soon,” he said.
