RAUTAHAT, APRIL 27

A 70-Year man of Gaur Municipality-2 died of Covid-19 in Rautahat district on Monday night.

The man had been suffering from asthma for a long time and was staying in home isolation after he was diagnosed with coronavirus infection. He was rushed to Gaur Hospital after he complained of breathing issues. He breathed his last on way to the hospital, informed Indra Dev Yadav, Rautahat's Chief District Officer.

With the spike in Covid-19 infections in recent days, the number of infected persons has increased substantially in the district.

A large number of Nepali migrant workers are returning from various Indian cities following the rapid increase of coronavirus infection in India and enforcement of lockdown in multiple cities. Authorities' mismanagement of returnees in the border points and allowing them passage without any test and quarantine has brought about fear in settlements near the Nepal-India border.

As many as 92 persons have been reported infected by the contagion in the district as of Tuesday morning. All identified infected have been staying in home isolation.

With the increasing number of coronavirus patients, preparations have been made to start the operation of an isolation facility with ventilators inside Gaur-based District Hospital, informed Rautahat CDO Yadav.

Meanwhile, security personnel have been directed to monitor those that are staying in home isolation and not allow them to roam around the markets, he added
