Security personnel have seized more than 3.3 tonnes of marijuana in one of the largest drug busts reported in Saptari district, confiscating three vehicles used to transport the contraband.
Police said a total of 3,332.46 kilograms of marijuana was recovered from three vehicles intercepted at Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality–5 while they were travelling from Hanumannagar towards Rampur Malhaniya.
The seizure included 523.64 kg of marijuana packed in 19 sacks from a Scorpio (Ba Pra 01-025 Cha 0436), 1,668.11 kg in 48 sacks from a pickup van (Pr 1-04-001 Cha 1507), and 1,170.71 kg in 33 sacks from another pickup van (Ba Pra 01-029 Cha 9586).
Police said all three vehicles have been taken into custody. However, the drivers managed to flee the scene and remain at large. A search operation has been launched to apprehend the absconding suspects, while further investigation into the case is underway.
