Food supplies have been distributed to over 400 impoverished, and helpless families in Bajura on Monday.

According to Kuber Bahadur Shahi, the Information Officer of Swamikartik Khapar Rural Municipality, relief was distributed to over 400 families in Swamikartik Khapar Rural Municipality-1, 3, and 5 and Jagannath Rural Municipality-1.

"Relief materials were distributed to families of children suffering from malnutrition and those affected by landslides," according to Prakash Singh, the president of Badimalika Foundation. He mentioned that the aid was provided to families struggling with severe food shortages.

This initiative was organized by the Badimalika Foundation and funded by Nepal Hilf Aachen e.V. The selection of families and distribution of aid was done in coordination with the municipality.

The relief materials, including rice, salt, lentils, oil, soap, and other items, were distributed to the victims, informed Laxmiraj Padhyay, secretary of Badimalika Foundation. He explained that the relief was aimed at providing some assistance to families of children suffering from malnutrition and those affected by landslides.

Nepal Hilf Aachen e.V. (NHA) and Badimalika Foundation Nepal have previously provided aid to victims in various other locations. "The NHA and Badimalika Foundation have previously collaborated on similar initiatives," said Dinesh Kandel (Ravi), Representative of NHA in Nepal.

This relief has been of great help to the locals, according to Ajay Bik, the ward chairman of Swamikartik Khapar Rural Municipality-1. "Since the unseasonal heavy rainfall from 29th Asoj to 1st Kartik 2078 BS, various settlements in Swamikartik Khapar Rural Municipality have been severely affected by landslides, and those families are still living in a displaced condition," he added.

Locals have expressed dissatisfaction, saying that even after four years, the government has not provided the promised assistance to build houses.

In Muktikot village of the rural municipality, the rate of malnutrition among children and mothers in their first thousand days is increasing, along with a severe food crisis. Local health workers have reported that not only children but also pregnant and postpartum women are suffering from malnutrition.

Locals have said that Muktikot is facing a severe food crisis throughout the year.

Mandire Kumal, a local from Swamikartik Khapar Rural Municipality, mentioned that the recent aid has provided significant relief. Along with the severe food crisis, women and children are suffering from anemia and malnutrition. The report of health division of the rural municipality indicates that women are not getting enough to eat, and even women who are expecting or have recently given birth are malnourished.
