Panel formed to probe Banke jailbreak

Nepalgunj, August 25:

A three-member committee has been formed to probe the escape of three detainees, including former head constable Khusiram Chaudhary who was involved in a police mutiny in the Nepalgunj-based Riot Control Police Battalion, from the Banke police’s custody.

The Zonal Police Office, under the direction of the Regional Police Office, Surkhet, formed the probe committee led by Inspector Rajendra Aryal of the Riot Control Police Battalion, said DSP Govinda Ram Pariyar. Sub-Inspector Rajendra Thapa and Assistant Sub-Inspector Jaya Rana are the members of the team.

The committee is mandated to submit its report within seven days. Three, including Chaudhary, the leader of the mutiny at the police battalion on July 12, absconded from the custody on Friday.
