KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 5

A writ petition was filed at the Supreme Court (SC) on Monday challenging the ordinance of the Koshi Province Government, which provides vehicle facilities to leaders of both ruling and opposition parties.

Legal practitioners Kapil Dev Dhakal and Rajendra Prasad Dangal lodged the petition at the SC, arguing that the ordinance is unconstitutional and should be annulled.

The Koshi Province Government introduced an Ordinance on Some Province Acts Amendment, which increased the number of office-bearers in the Province Assembly.

According to the ordinance, the province government intends to provide facilities to parliamentary party leaders of all ruling and opposing parties by designating them as province assembly office-bearers.
