Van driver held with 100 kg hashish being smuggled to India from Parsa

KATHMANDU: Nepal Police arrested a man in possession of 100 kg hashish from Bhaunratar VDC of Parsa district, the Rastriya Samachar Samiti reported.  The contraband was being smuggled to India on a pickup van.

According Superintendent of Police, Rajubabu Shrestha, at the District Police Office, the suspect has been identified as Tularam Tamang of Gati VDC, Sindhupalchok. He is a driver of pickup van.

Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted the vehicle at Bhaunratar and arrested Tamang after the discovery of the contraband yesterday evening.

He was paraded at the Parsa District Police Office in Birgunj today.

The vehicle has been impounded.

Police said they seized Rs 50,000 in cash also from Tamang's possession.

Meanwhile, a bus driver resorted to police after finding out that an unidentified passenger was smuggling hashish today. The bus was heading to Lalbandi of Sarlahi from Hetaunda of Makawanpur, today.
