PLA integration necessary: Home Minister
Says peace, stabilitySays peace, stability must for constitution writing must for constitution writing
Dhangadhi, January 12:
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bam Dev Gautam today said the statute would not be drafted until the completion of the task of management and integration of People’s Liberation Army fighters.
“Our major challenge is to establish peace. It cannot be achieved without managing the PLA soldiers. Constitution cannot be drafted if there is no peace and stability in the country,” Gautam said, addressing the CPN-UML activists’ meet here today. Saying that the nation was heading towards federal democratic structure, Gautam, however, assured that the constitution would be drafted soon.
Gautam also inspected the land of a campus allegedly seized by the Armed Police Force in Kailali district. “The APF camps will be removed if they are affecting the locals,” Gautam said.
The locals have been accusing the APF’s Baidhyanath Battalion in Attraiya of seizing 10 bighas of land belonging to Durga Laxmi Multiple Campus in Malakheti-7.
Demanding the APF to vacate the land, a Joint Struggle Committee has been organising protests for the past one month. Accusing the APF personnel of coming out of their camps at night and misbehaving with women, the locals demanded minister Gautam to remove the camp. Coordinator of the struggle committee Nandaraj Bhatta said he got positive response from Gautam.
Meanwhile, Gautam informed that the government had decided to allocate Rs 2.5 billion for the relief and resettlement of people affected by floods in mid and far-west regions.
