PM asks Madhes parties not to support UML

KATHMANDU: Caretaker Prime Minister and Unified CPN-Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal today met the leaders of the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum, the Tarai Mades Democratic Party and the Sadbhavana Party. The PM is said to have asked the Madhes-based leaders not to support Nepali Congress and CPN-UML to form the government.

“The NC and the UML are not credible forces. They do not want change. Help us create a new Nepal,” TMDP leader Sarbendra Nath Shukla quoted PM Dahal as saying. Dahal said only UCPN-M would address the demands of the Madhesi people.

Dahal also warned the leaders not to believe the UML, saying that the party had betrayed UCPN-M. The Maoist supremo is learnt to have asked the parties to help in correcting the President’s ‘unconstitutional’ move and in establishing ‘civilian supremacy’.

He called on the parties to seek a solution not in the parliament or the court, but on the streets. The Joint Madhesi Democratic Front allies asked the premier to create an environment conducive for the functioning of the parliament.

“We asked Dahal to let the House run smoothly, as it was the body to correct everything,” said Shukla.
