PM at Bandung Conference commemoration

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushil Koirala today took part in the Diamond Jubilee celebration of the first Asian African Conference of 1955 in Bandung, Indonesia.

According to Prime Minister Koirala’s Press Coordinator Prakash Adhikari, Koirala also attended the 10th Anniversary of the New Asian-African Strategic Partnership in Bandung today itself.

The Asian-African Conference of 1955 — also known as the first Bandung Conference — had adopted the principle of Panchasheel, which has been a cornerstone of Nepal’s foreign policy.

Leaders and representatives of some 105 countries from Asia and Africa had attended the event marking the first Bandung conference.

After attending the events, Prime Minister Koirala returned to Indonesian capital Jakarta.

Prime Minister Koirala is set to leave Jakarta for Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, where he is scheduled to undergo a health check-up. The hospital is yet to be finalised though.

He is scheduled to return home on April 28.
