KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 5

Prime Minister and Chairman of the CPN-Maoist Centre Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said he is in favour of preserving the unity among the parties in power.

PM Dahal gave this response after Rastriya Swatantra Party led by Rabi Lamichhane decided to recall its ministers.

He gave a brief response to the media at the Federal Parliament Building today, stating that he was talking about moving forward with national consensus. He further said he was of the opinion that unity among the ruling parties should be preserved at any cost. He said he would meet again with Rastriya Swatantra Party Chair Rabi Lamichhane and solve the problems immediately.

PM Dahal mentioned he felt that Rastriya Swatantra Party experienced discomfort after the Supreme Court's verdict and said such difficulties would be resolved through discussion.

"If I consider making national consensus, then I mean that the unity between our power partners should be saved any way," he said, adding, "After the court's decision, they must have felt some discomfort." "Now I will meet and talk to him (Rabi Lamichhane) again," he further said.

Even though the RSP has left the government, it has not withdrawn its support. "I have not been able to comprehend the entire decision made by them. During my meeting with him (Rabi Lamichhane) in the morning, he said the issue of withdrawal of ministers was being discussed, but he didn't give any clue regarding withdrawal of support to the government. We will discuss it again to resolve the matter," he said.
