KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 23

Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and former prime minister and CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli have won parliamentary seats - Deuba from his home constituency of Dadeldhura and Oli from Jhapa-5.

Deuba, who has won all general elections from Dadeldhura since the restoration of democracy in 1990, secured 25,534 votes. Sagar Dhakal, who contested the election as an independent candidate, polled 13,042 votes.

Oli, who contested election from Jhapa-5, secured 52,311 votes, defeating his nearest rival Khagendra Adhikari of the NC, who secured 23,743 votes. The margin of victory - 28,372 votes - is so far the highest among parliamentary seat winners.
