PM directs minister for measures to minimise road accidents

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Wednesday directed Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Ramesh Lekhak to take immediate measures to minimise road accidents across the nation.

The Prime Minister also urged the Minister to update him about the progress made toward that end.

The PM's directive comes against a backdrop that as many as 27 persons were killed in a bus accident in Birta Deurali of Kavrepalanchok district on Monday.

Meanwhile, Dahal also held weak regulation from the government, easy moneymaking desire of entrepreneurs, passengers over than the capacity and syndicate of transport organisations responsible behind increasing cases of traffic accidents.

The PM therefore has also directed the Minister to take legal and administrative steps to end the syndicate system, according to a press statement issued by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
