PM Oli assures of drafting regulation on investigation into disappeared
KATHMANDU: The Commission on Investigation of the Disappeared made an appeal to the government on Tuesday, preparatory to the regulation for the Commission to initiate work on finding the whereabouts of the families and people who disappeared during the decade long insurgency.
The Commission office-bearers urged Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to take steps for formulating the regulation at the earliest.
Commission Chairman Lokendra Mallik said the PM was positive towards their request and has assured for drafting the regulation within a week.
On the occasion, PM Oli said the Commission on Investigation of the Disappeared, and Truth and Reconciliation Commission should work to end the effects of the armed conflict on the society. PM Oli urged the Commission to undertake the work in a way that victims would be catered justice.
Mallik apprised the PM of the Commission's preparation to carry out onsite investigation after internal works pertaining to formulation of the Commission's code of conduct, drafting the regulation and establishment of the office.
