PM urges Prachanda for consensus
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal called on UCPN-Maoist chairman, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, at the latter’s residence in Naya Bazaar in the Capital on Sunday.
PM Nepal’s press advisor, Bishnu Rijal, informed that the PM, during the meeting, had urged the Maoist chairman to move ahead by forging consensus between the political parties to bring the peace process to a logical conclusion and to draft the new constitution on time.
Rijal informed that the discussions also dwelt on the issues pertaining to the supervision, rehabilitation and integration of the Maoist combatants living in the UN-monitored camps.
The government and the Maoists already started the process of discharging minors and disqualified combatants who will be rehabilitated in the society by November.
According to Rijal, PM Nepal stressed the need to forge a new understanding among the political parties. He said that Maoist chairman Prachanda was positive towards PM Nepal’s proposal. PM Nepal also briefed Prachanda on his recent trip to the 15th NAM summit in Egypt.
