With preparations for civic poll gaining momentum, political parties are focused on local levels.
Major national parties, including Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, and CPN-Maoist Centre as well as other fringe parties, Rastriya Janamorcha, CPN (Unified Socialist), Rastriya Prajatantra Party, and Janata Samajbadi party-Nepal have intensified their mobilisation and engagement at the ward level.
Parties of the federal ruling coalition have separately concentrated their activities at the lower rung, while main opposition, CPN-UML, is also organising gatherings at the ward level in view of the civic poll.
NC Baglung President Jeet Sherchan said that they had stepped up their campaign to construct the party office with the office management fund of Rs five million. "NC is engaging its election-focused campaign and activities at the ward level", he added.
CPN-UML has also organised activities at the municipality level after completing its district convention and holding the district committee meeting, said UML district publicity department Chief Chandra Ganesh Poudel.
The ruling coalition partners, NC, Maoist Centre, CPN-US and Rastriya Janamorcha have also intensified their internal and intra-party meetings and consultations to effectively collaborate at the local level. At the same time, they have also increased their village-level activities in view of the civic poll.
Likewise, CPN Maoist Centre's Baglung municipal committee Secretary Raju Khadka said that they are holding meetings with ruling coalition partners at the local level how to ensure partnership in the upcoming local level poll or explore other alternatives.
The party informed that it had mobilised representatives to conduct gatherings at all wards and settlements of Baglung Municipality by February 26.
Similarly, Rastriya Janamorcha has also zeroed in their activities at the local level lately.
The district-based structure of the parties have started delegating responsibilities at the municipal and ward levels as part of their civic-poll focused campaign in Baglung district.
