DHANGADI, FEBRUARY 21
District Court Baitadi has convicted Dinesh Bhatta in the rape and subsequent murder of Bhagirathi Bhatta of Dogdakedar Rural Municipality.
A single bench of district judge Tilak Bahadur Karki sentenced Dinesh to 12.6 years in prison in the rape and murder case. Judge Karki issued the verdict on the basis of statements that Dinesh recorded with the police and court and his DNA test.
Bhagirathi had gone to school on 3 February 2021. After school, she had reached nearby Khochlek Bazaar. But, she went out of contact from there.
Her mobile phone was switched off.
Her body was found in the forest the next day. After the incident, Dinesh was nabbed. He admitted to the police that he raped her before he murdering Bhagirathi.
