KATHMANDU, APRIL 22
The Election Commission today issued a press release stating that no amendments or additions shall be made to the voter list.
The EC said it was continuously receiving applications seeking addition of new voters, but as per the prevailing laws, such additions or amendments were impossible after announcement of poll date.
The EC also reminded the public that it had between April 2 and 9 to make amendments to the voter list. During that period, people were allowed to correct errors in the voter list, to remove double entries, and to remove names of deceased people.
The EC had published the final voter list on March 27 after completing all processes.
It clarified that new voters and amendment to the voter list could be made after the May 13 local level polls were over.
The EC said it had the sole jurisdiction amending the voter list and such an issue could not be challenged in any court of law.
