KATHMANDU, MARCH 27

The Election Commission has called on national organisations to submit application to observe the local elections scheduled for May 13.

The EC has issued a 15-day public notice with effect from today for applications from national organisations and individuals who have experience, expertise and efficiency in the field of election observation.

The organisation wishing to observe the election should submit the application along with the organisation registration certificate, statute, and a copy of the audit report. A list of office bearers of the working committee of the organisation, proof of experience of election observation, and copy of the booklet and guide prepared by the organisation need to be submitted along with the application.

However, the EC has the right to decide whether or not to allow any organisation to observe the elections. The EC has stated that election observation will help promote coordination and participation with the main stakeholders as well as contribute to the growth of the credibility of the polls.
