KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 20

CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has said the votes received by the party in the election to the House of Representatives and provincial assemblies had boosted the confidence of the party.

He argued that the CPN-UML was victorious in terms of popular votes.

Addressing a programme here today to honour and congratulate newly-elected members of the House of Representatives and Province Assembly of the party, Oli said that the UML had made Nepal's communist movement strong and established it in mainstream politics.

He laid emphasis on the need to enhance the democratic system in the coming days, stating that some weaknesses were seen in the recently held elections.

The UML chair said his party was not defeated in the election and added that the party would move ahead with self-confidence to realise the vision of building a prosperous Nepal happy Nepalis in the coming days. He also said the Nepali people made the UML the first party in six provinces, out of seven.

Oli urged the people's representatives to fulfil their responsibilities with utmost sincerity. He also expressed worry about possible political anarchy in the country in the coming days.

Oli honoured district chairpersons for their role in making UML candidates victorious in the HoR and Province Assembly elections.

Similarly, Member of Senior Communist Forum Bijay Lal Shrestha honoured Oli for becoming victorious with a huge margin of votes in the HoR election.
