RAJBIRAJ, MAY 4
While the election fever runs high as the local polls slated for May 13 near, the Musahar settlement at Ward 5 of Dakneswori Municipality, Saptari, appears to be unaffected.
People from Musahar community comprising around 150 households are apathetic towards the fast-approaching election.
Musahar people have problems galore such as inundation, poverty, unemployment and lack of road.
Party leaders and their candidates had pledged to provide them with road, jobs and embankment in the past, but unfortunately, their promises have been limited to just words.
"Party candidates used to give us a lot of dreams and since their dreams remained just dreams, nothing happened," shared Devi Sada.
Sada bemoaned that their pleas to the local people's representatives to solve the inundation problem in the rainy season had gone in vain. "We shall vote for those who can help protect our houses from being inundated," Sada said.
Bulo Sada lamented that the Musahar people were deprived of health services.
"There is no treatment facility in the village and we cannot go out of the village for treatment for lack of fund,"
Sada bemoaned.
Bulnatidevi Sada vented ire saying that party leaders and candidates had used them as vote bank.
As 150 families rely on a single tube well, they are facing water shortage. "Our pleas to provide us with drinking water have gone unheeded," shared Devi Sada, adding, "We shall vote for those who can solve all of our problems."
