Poverty-stricken mother kills self, two children

NEPALGUNJ; Chandramaya Oli, 30, of Mahadevpuri-2, Banke, who had been suffering from chronic bone disease, committed suicide on Tuesday.

Oli, who could not treat her disease due to poverty, had also allegedly killed her children by giving poison before killing self.

Oli’s body was found in Jhijhari Community Forest, some 500 meters away from her house.

DSP Raj Kumar Bradwar said Chandramaya had given poison to her five-year-old son Ramdip and two-year-old daughter Shanti before committing suicide. Chandramaya had tied nuptial knot with Tek Bahadur Oli, a district committee member of Unified CPN-Maoist Banke, in 2002. DSP Baidawar said the dead bodies have been handed over to the families after autopsy.
