Prapannacharya awarded

Kathmandu, November 4:

Poet laureate Madhav Prasad Ghimire gave away the Nayaraj Panta Research Award - 2005 to Dr Swami Prapannacharya for his contribution in the protection and promotion of Nepali culture, art and religions amid a function organised in the capital today. The Award carries a purse of Rs 7,000 and a commendation letter.

Ghimire also released Nepalka Baudhik Bibhuti: Nayaraj Panta, a book published by the Gyangun Literary Foundation, the organiser of the function, on the occasion of the third death anniversary of the late Panta.

The poet laureate shed light on the contribution of the late Panta in the field of Nepali history, astrology and research. The vice-chancellor of the Royal Nepal Academy, professor Dr Basu Dev Tripathi, Dr Prapannacharya, intellectual Shiva Hari Marahaththa and others also spoke at the function, which was presided over by academician Gyan Mani Nepal.
