President urges parties to defend national integrity

Chitwan, September 26:

President Dr Ram Baran Yadav today appealed to all political parties to move ahead keeping the unity intact.

Inaugurating the ninth anniversary of the BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital in Chitwan, he said, “Undesired consequences may follow if the parties part ways.”

“Framing new constitution is the need of the hour,” he said, adding that moving together is the only option the parties have in the present context.

Saying that violence is still rife in eastern Tarai, Yadav stressed the need for all people to move hand in hand to safeguard nationality and national integrity.

“Irrespective of languages we speak and religions we follow, we are Nepalis,” he said, adding, “We must rise above the feeling of Pahadi and Madhesi and feel that we are Nepalis.” Dr Yadav also unveiled a statue of BP Koirala on the hospital premises.

Speaking at the function, Minister for Health and Population Giriraj Mani Pokhrel said the government was willing to turn the hospital into a foundation.
