Primary school padlocked following corruption accusation

RAJBIRAJ: A primary school in Rupani Rural Municipality-2 of Saptari district has been padlocked on Sunday, following an accusation of corruption.

Members of School Management Committee and parents padlocked Jaycees Primary School accusing the institution of irregularities — trying to recruit unqualified teaching candidate and removing a master's graduate from candidacy — and filed a complaint with District Administration Office, Saptari demanding solutions to problems faced by the school.

The complaints accuse Chairman of the School Management Committee, Dev Narayan Yadav and school Principal Surya Narayan Mandal of accepting graft of Rs 600,000 during appointment to the vacant post of primary teacher, third grade (relief), in the school.

The complaint further demands the appointment of qualified teachers by conducting fair examination claiming that earlier Teacher Selection Committee was formed without including the School Invigilator.

Meanwhile, Surendra Poudel, Chief District Administration Officer, Saptari has directed the Education Development and Coordination Unit to submit reports after the investigation.
