KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 8

The high-level probe commission, formed to investigate recent cases of gold smuggling, has interrogated CPN (Maoist Centre) Vice-Chairman Krishna Bahadur Mahara and the proprietor of Bidh Lab, Bhimkant Bhandari.

The commission inquired into Mahara and Bhandari's involvement in the smuggling of 61 kilograms of gold concealed in brake shoes and nine kilograms of gold smuggled by being concealed in e-cigarettes or vapes, according to a member of the commission who spoke to RSS.

Bhandari, the accused, is believed to have ties with Dawa Tshring, who is currently in judicial custody for a gold smuggling case. As the commission continues its investigation into the gold smuggling cases, various individuals and accused persons have been providing statements to the commission.

Kishor Jung Karki, Prem Raj Joshi, and former Additional Inspector General (AIG) Sahakul Thapa are members of the commission, which is led by former High Court Judge Dilli Raj Acharya.
