Probe team returns to Kathmandu

Pokhara, June 21 :

The high-level judicial probe commission led by former Supreme Court judge Krishna Jung Rayamajhi, which reached here on Monday to probe incidents of human rights violation during Janandolan-2 in different districts of Gandaki and Dhaulagiri zones returned to Kathmandu today.

The team left after collecting details of incidents in Kaski, Parbat and Baglung districts. It met persons injured during the movement, eyewitnesses, mediapersons, rights activists and leaders of political parties and civil society.

Panel member Ram Prasad Shrestha said the work of taking statements of those facing cases will begin next week.

The team also visited different hospitals in Pokhara. Medical Superintendent Dr Kalu Sharma of Western Regional Hospital told the commission that 62 injured including protestors as well security personnel were treated there and that Govind Prasad Sharma of Parbat died in course of treatment.
