Tengri Tole of Agnisair Krishnasabaran Rural Municipality in Saptari was reduced to ashes after a fire broke out in the locality last night. It is believed that the fire had spread from the house of local Dambar Yadav.

More than a dozen houses and the property worth millions turned into ashes, said police. As many as nine livestock were also killed in the blaze. Police said that property worth Rs 2,375,000 was destroyed in the fire.

Police said Dambar Yadav, Shyam Yadav, Dinesh Yadav, Manoj Yadav, Kul Dev Yadav, Mahesh Yadav, Brij Narayan Yadav, Bhola Yadav, Satya Narayan Yadav, Amerendra Yadav, Uprendra Yadav, and Dhiraj Yadav, among 13 other families, have become homeless. All the houses had thatched roofs. The fire victims are staying under the open sky, said police.

Rural Municipality Chairman Parsu Ram Chaudhary said that houses, clothes, food stuffs, furniture and livestock, among others, were destroyed in the blaze.

Police, locals and fire engines from Rajbiraj, Shambhunath and Hanumannagar municipalities brought the fire under control early this morning. They said the fire had spread while the entire tole was asleep.

Fire incidents have started with the beginning of summer season, said police. Property worth Rs five lakh was destroyed after a fire spread due to leakage of gas in Rajbiraj Municipality yesterday morning.

Meanwhile, Madhes Province Social Development Minister Nawal Kishwor Sah provided tents and food materials to the fire victims. Similarly, Dharmihalfa Woman Development Club Chairman Surya Narayan Yadav also provided ten tents, utensils and other materials to the fire victims.
