Property worth Rs 2.2m gutted in Shuklagandaki fire

KATHMANDU: Properties worth around Rs 2.2 million were destroyed in a fire that gutted two buffalo sheds in Shuklagandaki Municipality of Tanahun district on Wednesday night.

According to Spokesperson at Tanahun District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Lilaraj Lamichhane, the fire has gutted two sheds and three stacks of hay, killing 13 buffalos and15 rabbits. No human casualty has been reported in the incident.

The fire that started at 11:00 pm yesterday was doused only at 3:00 am this morning with the help of police, Nepal Army, locals and a fire engine from Byas Municipality.

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be established, however, police after the preliminary investigation said that it might have started from an electric short-circuit or from a spark of fire used in preparing fodder for the animals.

Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway, said Police Inspector Saroj Giri Pandey at Area Police Office, Belchautara.
