JANAKPURDHAM: A massive fire broke out at Mithila Department Store located at Shiva Chowk of Janakpurdham Sub-metropolitan City on Thursday morning.

Property worth millions of rupees was gutted in the fire that took place at around 10:30 am.

Security bodies and locals -- with the help of fire engines from Nepal Civil Aviation Office, Janakpurdham, Jaleshwor, Dhanushadham and Kshireshwornath Municipalities -- doused the fire.

Chief of Dhanusha District Police Office, Ramesh Basnet, said the cause of the fire has not been ascertained yet.

Managing Director of the departmental store, Harikant Mishra, said that goods worth Rs 50 million were gutted in the incident.
