Property worth Rs 70bn damaged

DHADING: Property worth around Rs 70 billion was damaged due to the April 25 earthquake and subsequent aftershocks in Dhading. According to District Natural Disaster Rescue Committee, more private property compared to public property was destroyed in the district. As per the report submitted by a necessity assessment team  in the post-disaster scenario, human settlements and sheds worth around Rs 40 billion perished in the disaster, whereas stored foodstuffs worth around Rs 22 billion was destroyed. Similarly, cattle worth around Rs 8 billion were killed due to the tremors. Chief District Officer Basu Dev Ghimire said that Rs 1.14 billion state provided relief was distributed to the victims in the district so far.  A total of 81,313 houses were ravaged in the disaster and 676 people lost their lives. Similarly, around 3,000 district folks have migrated to safer places due to high risk in their settlements.
