Protesters hurl petrol bomb at security personnel in Birgunj, vandalise lawmaker Amatya's house

BIRGUNJ: Birgunj, the district headquarters of Parsa, remained tense on Tuesday as protesters defied the prohibitory order and staged demonstrations against the new Constitution at various places.

At least three security personnel were injured when protesters threw petrol bomb at them at Maisthan.

The injured have been identified as Nepal Police's Head Constable Krishna Bahadur Nepali and Constables Raju Pariyar and Raj Kishor Yadav.

About half a dozen of protesters were injured in a clash with with security personnel there.

Meanwhile, protesters have vandalised Nepali Congress leader and lawmaker Rajendra Bahadur Amatya's house in Birgunj-11.

After the curfew was relaxed from 6 am to 10 pm today, the supporters and cadres of Madhesi parties came to the streets and demonstrated at Nagawa, Naya Bus Park, Laxmanwachok, Gandak, Pipari, Power House, Murli, Ghantaghar, Maisthan, Adarshanagar, Chhapkaiya, Inarwa and other places.

They burned tyres and blocked the roads.

Protesters clashed with security personnel at Gandak and Maisthan, and vandalised and set a police post on fire at Alau.

Protesters had vandalised the office of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce in Birgunj yesterday evening. Also, they had set a motorcyle parked at the FNCCI premises ablaze.
