DHARAN, OCTOBER 24

The meeting of the Province 1 Assembly, which was slated to be held today, was put off till October 31.

Today's meeting was scheduled to hold discussion on the vote of confidence proposal submitted by Chief Minister Bhim Prasad Acharya, and the meeting was supposed to hold a vote on the proposal.

Nepali Congress had written to the speaker of Province 1 Assembly seeking to put off the meeting. CPN- UML too had asked the speaker to put off the meeting citing the party's local level convention.

Citing the Nepali Congress and UML's written request, the meeting was postponed till October 31, said Gopal Prasad Parajuli, secretary at the Province Assembly.

After the Nepali Congress demanded leadership sharing in the province government, a dispute has surfaced among the five parties. Congress fears that dissatisfied lawmakers might cross the floor and vote in favour of CM Acharya.
