CM Poudel dismisses rumours of rift between provincial, federal governments

Hetauda, October 8

Province 3 Chief Minister Dormani Poudel today dismissed the rumour that the provincial government was engaged in a dispute with the federal government.

Speaking at zero hour at the meeting of the Provincial Assembly, CM Poudel said some elements had spread the rumour that there was a rift between the provincial government and the central government.

He urged all not to create misunderstanding among the three layers of government. “The federal government has not delegated all prerogatives. There is no bad blood between the provincial government and the central government,” Poudel clarified.

Poudel admitted that the provincial government had not been able to perform in a noticeable manner. “Due to delay in making laws, the government’s performance has not been excellent. However, we have not stayed silent,” Poudel added. “We have come to the present state from zero level. It should be taken positively,” he stated.

Main opposition party leader Indra Bahadur Baniya accused the province government of dilly-dallying with the law making process. “More than 1,000 laws have to be made. But, only 18 laws have been passed from the PA till date,” he added. Meanwhile, feasibility study report prepared by the special committee to fix permanent headquarters was presented in the Provincial Assembly today.

Committee president Dipak Niraula had presented the report in the PA. The report was submitted to PA Speaker Sanu Kumar Shrestha around two-and-a-half months ago.  The committee has recommended Kavre, Chitwan, Nuwakot, Bhaktapur and Makawanpur as permanent headquarters in terms of their importance.
