KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 7

A total of 246 people have lost their lives so far due to natural disasters such as landslides, flooding, and inundation following the incessant rainfall from September 26-28 across the country.

According to details released by Nepal Police today, 178 people were injured, and 18 remain missing. Spokesperson for the Ministry of Home Affairs, Rishiram Tiwari, reported that a total of 1,774 people have been rescued.

The disaster has caused extensive damage to lives and property, particularly in Bagmati Province, with 139 fatalities in the Kathmandu Valley alone.

Relief funds have been provided to 176 dependent families in accordance with the "Disaster Victim Rescue and Relief Guidelines, 2077," and efforts are ongoing to distribute financial aid and relief materials to affected families, Tiwari stated.

A team led by the Home Minister has been tasked with expediting relief distribution and reconstruction efforts to ensure effective emergency relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction.

The ministry is also working on restoring vehicular movement by clearing obstacles and making alternative arrangements on various highways.
