Physical infrastructure worth millions of rupees has been damaged by the recent floods and landslides in Tanahun.
Roads, bridges, industries, agriculture farms, fertile land and food grains, among others, were destroyed in the disaster.
According to Tanahun Division Road Office, the motorable bridge over Chhabdi Khola was swept away in Byas Municipality.
Flood in the river also destroyed the road at Dumrebesisahar.
The 50-metre road section along Prithivi Highway in Suklagandaki Municipality has caved-in in Tanahun. Locals said it was very difficult to walk on the rural roads during monsoon. Dozens of motorable roads have been damaged and vehicular movement has been obstructed.
Food supply in rural areas has been badly affected due to the obstruction of roads. Agriculture and livestock Office in the district also informed about the damage.
Issuing a statement, Nepali Congress and CPN- UML urged the authorities concerned to provide relief to flood and landslide victims.
The District Administration said that the office had been collecting details of victims.
Two women lost their lives in the flood and three persons were injured in the landslides in Bandipur Rural Municipality last Thursday.
Hari Maya Nepali, 70, and Saraswati Thapa, 30, lost their lives in the flood.
Bandipur Rural Municipality Vice-chair Karuna Thapa has urged the authorities concerned to manage relief materials for victims. Meanwhile, Nepal Red-cross Society, Tanahun, has provided tents, blankets, buckets, clothes, and food materials to the victims.
