Ramechhap NC finalises poll candidates

  • The CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre, however, have yet to pick their candidates for local polls

Nepali Congress in Ramechhap has finalised its nominees to contest for all posts in the forthcoming local level polls.

The NC made the final list of prospective candidates public at a press meet yesterday after a week-long discussion with party cadres and leaders. The party has picked Yuba Raj Bhattarai and Mina Karki to contest for mayor and deputy mayor of Manthali Municipality respectively .

Similarly, Nar Bahadur Thapa Magar and Shrijana Khadka have been nominated for the posts of mayor and deputy mayor, respectively of Ramechhap Municipality. “Our party has nominated the candidates for all eight local levels,” said NC Ramechhap District President Lavashree Neupane. The district has a total of two municipalities and six rural municipalities.

Hikmat Bahadur Sunuwar, Chandra Bahadur Raut and Nani Babu Basnet have been picked for the posts of chairperson of  Umakunda, Likhu and Gokulganga rural municipalities respectively; while Urmila Khadka, Kalpana Khadka and Tulasha Khadka have been nominated for the posts of vice-chairpersons of the rural municipalities respectively.

Besides, Jitendra Kumar Moktan, Man Bahadur Lama and Bed Raj Lama have been recommended for the posts of chairpersons of Sunapati, Doramba and Khadadevi rural municipalities respectively while Binita Khadka, Khamala Thapa Magar and Mina Kumari Shrestha have been proposed for Sunapati, Doramba and Khadadevi rural municipalities, respectively.

The CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre, however, have yet to pick their candidates for local polls.
