Rautahat PABSON supports Madhes stir
Rautahat, October 7
Private and Boarding Schools of Nepal Rautahat chapter today made public various programmes, expressing solidarity with the ongoing Madhes agitation.
A meeting chaired by PABSON senior adviser Ashit Kumar Baidhya in Gaur today took the decision to participate in the ongoing relay strike along the India-Nepal border, take out a grand teachers’ and students’ peace rally and burn oil lamps in memory of those who died during the agitation at BP Chowk tomorrow evening.
A statement issued by PABSON Rautahat Secretary Gautam Shrestha read that they were holding extensive discussion about resuming schools as studies have been disrupted for long in the region. The meeting condemned the government’s apathy in addressing their demands and accused it of not being serious about relieving the people from the prolonged deadlock.
They have appealed to the government to be responsible and ease the longstanding hardship of the people caused by the general strike instead of bargaining over power sharing in the new government.
Activists of the agitating Federal Madhesi Front and United Democratic Madhesi Front jointly took out a plate rally. Similarly, thousands of people staged a dhoti rally organised with the initiative of Civil Society Garud today.
