KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 2
Police have arrested Yograj Dhakal, also known as Regal, in compliance with the Supreme Court's order to take him into custody immediately.
Regal, a murder convict, had been granted parole by the President on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers. However, in response to a writ petition challenging this decision, the Supreme Court overturned it and directed the government to arrest Regal in order to serve the remainder of his sentence.
Subash Chandra Bohara, the Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office Banke, confirmed that Regal was apprehended this afternoon.
Regal had been incarcerated after being found guilty of the murder of Chetan Manandhar. Chetan's wife had filed a petition with the Supreme Court, contesting the government's decision to release Regal and forgive the remainder of his sentence
