KATHMANDU, JANUARY 27

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has urged Nepalis stranded in various foreign countries due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, who were charged exorbitant airfare for rescuing them to the home country by international chartered flights, to report about the matter.

In a statement issued by the ministry, the victims have been asked to report the matter to the investigation committee along with official documents with evidences within a week. For this, they can send a mail at the official email address of the ministry, info@tourism.gov.np. The Government of Nepal had facilitated international chartered flights to rescue Nepali people stranded in various foreign countries due to the pandemic.

The ministry's move comes after complaints that Nepali people stranded abroad due to the virus were charged exorbitantly for rescuing them to the home country. Following this, the ministry had formed an airfare committee, 2021, to probe the matter.

Now, a committee has been formed to investigate the matter and seek clarification from the concerned authorities in question as recommended by the airfare probe committee, said the ministry.
